The Humanitarian Law Center Kosovo (HLCK) and the Missing Persons Resource Center (MPRC) are pleased to announce the winning project in the international open call for the creation of a public space artwork in memory of Missing Persons as a result of the war in Kosovo (1998–2000).

For the selection of the winning project, HLCK engaged a professional jury composed of: Shkëlzen Maliqi (KS) philosopher, art critic, and political analist, Donjetë Murati (KS) curator and art researcher, Raino Isto (US) art critic and historian, Nataša Božilović (KS) representative from the Missing Persons Resource Center, Blerta Hocia (ALB) curator from the Humanitarian Law Center Kosovo. Acknowledging the work’s artistic and conceptual depth, as well as its strong connection to the theme, the jury selected “Pema e Jetës” by artists Dea Gjinovci and Armand de Benoist de Gentissart as the winning project.

This project, serves not only to preserve memory but also to encourage reflection and dialogue. The artwork creates a space where families, neighbors, and visitors can gather, share their stories, and feel less alone in their grief making the monument not just a place of remembrance, but a living structure, a testament to belonging, resilience, and the unbroken threads of genealogy. It affirms that the missing are not lost in time but remain an inseparable part of the family tree.

This initiative is part of the project: “Enhancing the efforts on shedding light on the fate of missing persons in Kosovo”, supported by European Union Office in Kosovo and implemented by Humanitarian Law Center Kosovo in partnership with Missing Persons Resource Center.
